Walking on Waratahs
In May 2021, Utopia Goods provided superb handmade custom designed carpets for Government House, Sydney. The iconic 'State of Waratah' rug takes centre stage in the study, and is testament to the beauty of craftsmanship.
Alongside the carpet, is a companion carpet, 'Waratah Leaves'. The rugs designed by Utopia Goods, and made by Robyn Cosgrove, are hand knotted and made by some of the best carpet makers in the world (and members of CARE & FAIR http://www.care-fair.org).
One of the finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Sydney, Government House Sydney is the Official Residence of the Governor of New South Wales. Visitors to Government House can view the restored grand historic interiors, including the exquisite hand-painted stencil ceilings. The House also showcases a significant collection of portraits, furniture, decorative arts and gubernatorial memorabilia, many of them produced in New South Wales and of heritage significance.
Custom made, artisan products are integral to the Utopia Goods ethos, whereby design skill, craftsmanship, native Australian flora and the love of the decorative arts come together to produce special items for designers, architects and clients.
